When we accept life as it is, energetically we vibrate at a higher, more positive level, therefore resonating with (and opening to) positive life shifts and experiences. Acceptance then becomes a doorway to whatever the best next step is for you in your life.
As we continue to accept life as it is, our inner awareness and experience of ourselves as Soul can more easily open and deepen. This can be experienced initially as relief. As we stay in acceptance, contentment, peace of mind and optimism are the result.
By coming back again and again to accepting life as it is, there can be a broadening and deepening into overall well-being.
“
Life is not the way it is supposed to be. It is the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.
~ Virginia Satir
Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans.
~ Allen Saunders
Or if you’re following the best path for you in this lifetime?
Ever believed you are messing up your life in some ways?
Or if your life is a mistake?
I want to share with you a liberating, simple truth:
You have had, are having, and will continue to have the perfect lifetime for you this time around. And in a way, you can’t do it wrong.
Everything and everyone in your life serves in the workshop you came to do this time around, and likewise, you are serving in the workshop of other beings as well.
It seems to be part of our humanness to put a lot of energy into trying to live the life we think we “should” be living. Many of us have had (and maybe still have) an underlying belief that we are just not good enough as we are, that we are inadequate and insufficient beings. Along with this comes deep disappointment and discontent which can color our lives. This often increases as we compare ourselves to others and surmise that we come up short.
Then you might read a variety of self help books and try to practice what is offered there. However, if there is an underlying belief that you are inherently inadequate, it will eventually get triggered again as you try to practice what you’ve learned.
Or maybe you get the hang of a technique and things go better for awhile but then the old discontent with your life and/or yourself eventually gets triggered again.
Sound familiar? Well guess what…
You are ALREADY living the absolutely perfect, unique life path for you to experience what you came to experience in this lifetime.
Realizing this and accepting your life as it is can be very liberating!
From the beginning of your birth into this lifetime you have been living the exact life you came here to live. None of it is a mistake. You’ll continue to do that until this lifetime is over, and will do the same in every incarnation you experience.
In each and every lifetime we live a life totally tailored to what is best for the next step in our spiritual awakening, even though it might not look or feel like that as you’re living it.

Knowing and accepting this automatically allows us to accept life as it is and facilitates an openness which makes our lives a much easier ride.
To help you accept your life as it is, I invite you to view your life through a broader, all-encompassing lens. Your life path is unique. It will not look like anyone else’s.
Lives in physical incarnation is a lot like being a surfer. You paddle out into the water, position your surfboard on a wave and then hop on the board! The wave takes you where it takes you. Yes, you can lean this way or that way as you feel inclined to, but ultimately, it is the wave itself that takes you where it does.
Even though there is a strong tendency in most of us to completely identify with our particular personality, body and mind, we are much much more than that.
You are Soul, a unique being of consciousness who lives on many levels of life simultaneously. As you read these words right now on the physical plane, you are alive and simultaneously living on the mental, emotional, etheric and soul planes, as well as countless levels beyond that.
In our essence we are pure, bright, shining light. Pure consciousness. Alive, vibrant, awake, loving awareness. As soul, we willingly and purposefully choose to have the experience of embodiment again and again, to incarnate into many varieties of lives on many different planes of existence, including this physical one where you are reading these words right now.
Each incarnation, no matter what level it is on, serves to deepen our awakening into the truth of our being as pure, shining, conscious Light. Accepting your life exactly as it is can soften, deepen and enhance your experience of what you came here to learn and experience this time around.
You are not alone as you walk your path in this lifetime, as well as ALL your lifetimes.
Whether we are aware of them or not, we all have Spirit Guides on the inner planes (where we live simultaneously with this physical life, whether we are aware of it or not) who help us in accepting life as it is, and in so many other ways along our path.

Have you ever made a choice in life simply because it just felt right? Yes, it may have been based on mental conclusions, but at different choice points in our lives, all of us also get inner nudges to proceed in a particular direction, or to decline a particular choice. This guidance doesn’t come from the mind. It is the result of tuning into yourself as Consciousness, as Soul, even if you don’t fully realize you’re doing that!
As we let go into our true being as Soul, we can also become conscious of our Inner Guides. When you feel an inner urge to proceed in a certain direction (or to not proceed) there is a really good chance that your Inner Guide(s) is guiding you along the way.
You, Soul, have a much broader, deeper, perceptive knowingness than you do from just your human self. I encourage you to get to know yourself as soul. Find out who you really are.
With help from our Guides, before we come into each life we fully consciously and willingly agree to a particular “workshop” that helps us to further open and evolve as Soul.
Beforehand, we even meet with other Souls and establish agreements to play certain roles in our upcoming lifetimes, which help us learn whatever is next in our spiritual unfoldment. This usually works both ways, where it is mutually beneficial for both beings to play specific roles in each other’s lives.
So, believe it or not, you are already on the right path for you no matter how it might look or feel! Experiencing peace is really about accepting and embracing both life as it is and yourself as you are showing up in this physical life.
Softening around your life and your perceptions of yourself and others, as well as accepting all of it as it is, can ease and soften your experience of your current workshop significantly. Then we can learn what we came here to learn faster. When we accept life as it is, our hearts are more open which also makes this lifetime easier.
With each situation I invite you to ask within:
“What is this situation trying to teach /show me?”
Let your mind relax as you sit with this question, so that you are more conscious of yourself as Aliveness, as Consciousness. Then just see what gently arises within your awareness.
As we are willing to learn from a situation or experience, the situation itself can shift by itself once it has served its purpose — to teach us what it was meant to teach us. Then, as we accept life as it is, on to the next lesson!
Once we can accept whatever our current situation is, then we can move forward. And sometimes your Inner Guidance may be nudging you to do nothing at all in a situation. Sometimes it is best to just be still and see what wants to happen by itself.
We learn much faster when we can let go of resistance to whatever is going on, but there are deeper and deeper levels of accepting life as it is and letting go.
Sometimes we choose particularly challenging “workshops” (lives) because we are ready to open, realize, and learn a lot in one lifetime. Other times, especially after one or many arduous lifetimes in a row, we choose an easier lifetime / workshop. And there are countless varieties of lives between those two parameters.

Once we incarnate into human form, our mind and physical being usually have no memory of ourselves as Soul or of the fact that we chose our particular workshop in our current incarnation, or any other incarnation.
However, in some cases, with more mature souls, generally after myriad lives on different, diverse planes of existence, awareness of our True Being can be experienced at a very young age during a particular incarnation.
But if we haven’t yet opened to that point, we awaken to the truth of our Being through the challenges of the experiences in this life and future ones. Every lifetime gives us the opportunity to realize something important that we couldn’t learn any other way and awaken ever more fully into the reality of ourselves as Pure, Awake Soul.
Once we awaken to our true Being, we still continue to evolve as Soul, helping others to awaken as well.
Along the way, as we are learning to accept life as it is, we experience an infinite variety of workshops — life situations which challenge us — all of which serve to awaken us another small or large step into the truth of our being. As I mentioned before, this awakening can be a shared experience with other Souls with whom we have close relationships, and even with someone you meet only briefly.
There can be different themes and focuses for each workshop (lifetime). Depending on what the workshop is this time and every time we come into physical incarnation, and how far along the path of awakening to our true Being we are, we are not always conscious of our true reality as we go through our workshops.
Before we begin to get to know ourselves as Soul we generally believe that our humanness is the sum total of our being. Consequently, our daily lives can be quite challenging.
A particularly brutal part of physical incarnation is often self-judgment, which then also spawns judgment of others.
“
Seeing when you justify yourself and when you blame others is not a reason to criticize yourself, but actually an opportunity to recognize what all people do and how it imprisons us in a very limited perspective of this world. It’s a chance to see that you’re holding onto your interpretations of reality; it allows you to reflect that that’s all it is — nothing more, nothing less; just your interpretation of reality.
~ Pema Chodron, The Wisdom Of No Escape
What I’ve seen in my own life and in the lives of the wonderful beings I work with in WellBeing Alignment Sessions, most of us deal with self-judgment. It can arise within mature souls as well as younger souls and it creates tremendous suffering.
Self-judgment can show up in many forms, manifesting as a haunting inner mental dialogue along these basic lines:
“I’m messing up. I’m not ______ enough (fill in the blank – good, smart, wise, knowledgeable, strong, kind, patient, attractive, nice, healthy … etc.) enough. I should be doing more. I should be accomplishing more, and I should do it more quickly, more perfectly.”
Often we are trying to be what we perceive as “better” — a better person, a better human. We form a mental concept of what we feel we should be, then compare ourselves to that concept and come up short again and again. And / or we see others around us and judge them as “better” than us in some way and we feel inferior and inadequate.
“I should be more awake spiritually, more loving and compassionate, less reactive. I should be smarter and wiser. I should meditate more. I should be better looking and more physically fit. I should be a better worker. I should be making more money.”
The end result of holding an idea of the perfect you who you think you “should” be is constant, painful self-judgment.
Then, if we are judging ourselves, that means we are also judging others in the same way. They are two sides of the very same dynamic. I find that the more accepting I am of my own quirks and flaws, the more I can smile at others’ idiosyncrasies as well.

This desire to change or improve ourselves can start out pretty innocuously. We find a book and / or a teacher whose teaching or outlook we resonate with. Then we try to do what they suggest, and for many of us, we try to do it perfectly.
There is nothing wrong with this. If you’re drawn to the teacher, teaching, book or website, that means there IS something there that is part of your life path. Otherwise it wouldn’t be happening.
The teaching or book might help a little or even a lot. It may help you open more to the truth of your being, especially if the person who wrote the book is awake to the truth of being. In that case, you will feel the vibration of the awakened being, even if you’re not fully conscious of that. Tuning into the vibration of the awakened soul, simply by reading or hearing their words, or being around them physically, can serve as a kind of tuning fork to help us open and vibrate to the higher dimension of ourselves as well.
All of that is wonderful. And if you’re doing that, that is part of your workshop in this lifetime as well.
Please be kind to yourself in the process. This helps us to be kind to others as well. Again, how we treat ourselves dictates how we treat others.
As you learn to accept life as it is, I invite you to soften around your perceptions of both yourself and others. And as you investigate avenues of creating positive change in your life, it is important to remember to first accept yourself, your life situation and everyone in your life as they are. That way your entire experience is more open to positive change.
“
This was a Guide’s response to a woman named Marie who was feeling disconnected from her loved ones and wanting to re-establish relationships with them:
She must understand that the love we need the most is the love we give ourselves. When she is her own closest companion, she is no longer dependent on others. Then she can focus on just being, instead of trying to manipulate others into meeting her needs.
Here we accept that everyone is perfect and exactly as they should be on their journey. Humans need to accept themselves.
This means loving and nurturing yourself instead of supporting others in the hope that they will love and care for you.
When Marie acknowledges and nurtures herself, then she can extend this to others, no matter what their circumstances and no matter what choices they make. That is unconditional love.
~ Michael Newton, PhD, pages 148-9, Wisdom Of Souls
I’ve followed a few spiritually awake beings and read many books from spiritual teachers and knowledgeable beings. Many of them were helpful — some more than others. So many times I’ve strongly resonated with a certain approach and said to myself, “THIS is the way! I’ll follow this path until I die. I’ll do it exactly as they say.”
I threw myself totally into each approach and tried as best I could to follow their instructions to the letter.
Mind you, I’m not making that wrong. If this is happening to any of us, then THAT is part of our workshop also.
ALL of those experiences and teachers opened me up in one way or another. Even the judging of myself for not perfectly doing each particular path served immensely because the pain of self-judgment became so great it literally forced me to learn to love myself.
Besides the profound realizations that occurred in the process, and the incredible wisdom of the teachings themselves that helped open up my experience of myself as Light, as Soul, just going through it all and seeing the judgments of myself for not being some perceived idea of “perfect” served as an important part of my workshop in this lifetime.
It is important to realize that however you live your life, or in whatever way you follow a particular teacher, teaching, religion or philosophy, you will have your own unique experience with it. Often, whatever our unique, personal experiences are as we “walk” our path can become a more profound teaching than an official teaching itself!

Also, what might appear at first as a failure in your life is really just part of your workshop and could actually be a winning accomplishment in that it is teaching you something valuable.
It is helpful to see that even when we think we are failing, we are actually succeeding because we came here to purposely experience failure (if that is happening) so that we can learn something we wouldn’t be able to learn in any other way.
Every bit of your life is exactly as it needs to be for your unique workshop this time around.
If you feel negativity you are not bad or wrong. You are Soul, experiencing your workshop as a human.
Your humanness isn’t the sum total of who you are. Your humanity is an experience you’re having, at least for now. Anger, fear, sadness, and grief are all part of the human package. No point in judging yourself or others for experiencing them. However if judgment arises, don’t judge yourself for that either!
All of these are part of the human condition.
That said, there are healthy ways to cope with these and any emotional fields that arise within your being.
Every being, experience and thing within our lives is in some way serving to ultimately wake us up spiritually. As mentioned previously, from a certain perspective you can’t fail. Even if you appear to fail, that itself is a deeper teaching and you will eventually realize how that incident and your actions as well as the actions of everyone involved was not a mistake. It was a very precise teaching uniquely designed for you and everyone involved.
It is important to not just hear “you can’t fail” on the mind level. If we only take in that information on a mental level it could sound like justification to treat others and ourselves in awful ways and just think “Oh well, it’s just part of my workshop and theirs.”
We are not separate. Any energy we send out will eventually return to us exactly as it was when sent out.
What is essential here is to keep coming back to accepting everything as it is, not just as a thought but to actually do it by letting go of our resistance to whatever is showing up within ourselves or others.
You can do this the same way you would let go of a ball you’re holding in your hand. You consciously open your hand and let go. Doing that with our inner resistance to ourselves and others is truly letting go and accepting life as it is.
Then from here, there is openness. We are open to hearing our unique inner guidance for that moment and beyond, nudging us in the best direction.
If you were always succeeding (from the mind’s perspective) rather than failing, you wouldn’t learn the things you came here to learn!
And times when your mind says you are succeeding is also an important part of your workshop as well, although not in the way the mind might view it.
So you see ALL of your life is a valuable workshop — every single aspect and moment of it.
As a physical being you may have had or are having what seems like a horrible experience with another being. However, that couldn’t be happening without you and the other soul previously agreeing to the experience before you came into this physical incarnation. In fact, you set it up with that other soul before you incarnated.
This doesn’t mean necessarily that we always realize / learn from an experience right away. In my experience, sometimes it can take many more related experiences and then years later there is a reflecting back on my life and a kind of connecting of the dots that occurs by itself.
However, I still recommend doing the best you can with what you have going on each moment. The steps outlined here can help you with that.
If you’re not happy with how you behaved, acted, reacted, etc. in a situation, then just know that you are learning. Please be kind to yourself. Let go and soften around your perception of yourself. Each situation gives us a little (or a lot!) more information, and we will “course correct” as we go along and as we mature spiritually. When we can accept what appears as our “mistakes” and learn from them, then it is easier to be kinder to the other beings involved as well.
It is true that from a certain perspective you really can’t botch up your lifetime. You will do whatever the next step is for you in your spiritual unfoldment, and that can’t be judged from our minds. It is what it is.
However, please note that I’m not encouraging you to live your life recklessly or to use what I’m sharing here as permission to consciously (or even unconsciously) do mean or cruel things to other beings, yourself or the environment we share. No.
There is this thing called “karma.” Cause and effect. Whatever energy (positive or negative) that arises from within us that we allow to take us over and act from will at some point — either in this incarnation or a future one — be enacted upon us as well. In other words, any energy that we send out will eventually circle back to ourselves as the same exact energy we sent out. And this is true of both positive and negative energies, such as love / hate, openness / closedness.
If you’re thinking “what’s the use of trying to accomplish anything or help others or myself if my life is just on auto pilot?”
Your life is not on auto pilot. It shifts and changes at each choice point and there are many many choice points throughout each day.
Do not give up on leaning toward a higher purpose for your life. You have the choice to decide where you want to live FROM. And where we live our lives FROM determines the energy we experience as well as the energy we send out to all life. As I stated before, what we send out eventually comes back to us.
I encourage you to shift attention to your Heart as much as you can and look out from there as you view and perceive yourself, the world and the rest of humanity. Feel your connection with all life.

Great!
As I mentioned before, anything and everything that arises within your life is part of your overall workshop for this lifetime or it wouldn’t be arising. This includes having lifetime goals as well as immediate plans emerge from within you.
However, a big part of accepting life as it is, is to accept the constantly changing tides of your life. In other words, it is good to stay open to “what is” as much as you can.
There is nothing wrong with making plans as they arise within you. But it is good to keep in mind that those plans may constantly shift and change entirely or at least partially. For instance, if you feel an inner nudge to start a new business and then proceed, you might find that you end up going an entirely different route than you envisioned at first.
All along the way, and with every shift on your path, I encourage you to check your inner Heart within and notice what simply FEELS right and then lean in that direction.

“Wow, I am still not able to put into words what you have helped me to experience and to release. I am so beyond grateful for the gift you have given me. The first couple of days after our session, I had the strangest feeling... a feeling of hope, and a kind of general thought that ‘everything will be alright.’ It was like a kind of gentle mist just in the background of my awareness, and it related directly to the golden light that I experienced in my solar plexus during our session – my power.
It felt strange because I haven’t felt or thought that way in the longest time, except I didn’t know I was ‘missing’ it until I had it again! Love and such huge, huge gratitude.”
